Laminate flooring has enjoyed phenomenal success in both residential and commercial locations over the last ten years and there is no sign of the demand slowing down in the foreseeable future. After achieving great success in Europe it hit the U.K. in the early 90s but did not really attract much interest until a well known Swedish furniture retailer started selling it in their stores.

Laminate's popularity stems from its good looks - it is often difficult to tell it apart from real wood flooring - the competitive price, its durability and ease of maintenance. Melamine laminate flooring is made from the same material as kitchen worktops but with extra layers of resin papers bonded to its surface. This makes it exceptionally resistant to indentation, scratching, household chemicals, direct heat and strong sunlight, ideal for the toughest of heavy duty environments.

Over the last few years, as more and more European manufacturers have exported their floorings to the UK , we have identified what we believe to be three of the best ranges produced; for heavy contract locations we recommend PERGO high pressure laminate.
