To produce a perfect floor finish you need a sound base to lay on and this frequently involves the preparation of the sub floor with a good quality floor levelling compound. ARDEX are one of the market leaders in sub-floor smoothing compounds, damp proof membranes, primers, repair mortars and floor screeds. They continually set the pace and are constantly innovating. Their rapidry formula products are widely respected and preferred by flooring contractors and contracts managers alike. More recently, they have introduced low odour, latex based screeds.

ARDURAPID 45. A water mix repair mortar that can receive floorcovering within 1½ hours.
ARDIT K15 Totally self levelling, pumpable smoothing compound, can be walked on in about 2 hours.

ARDURAPID 35 Rapid drying screed, a 50mm thick screed is totally dry within 24 hours, or can be laid on in 4 hours when smoothed with ARDIT 55.

	ARDITEX - LATEX BASED UNIVERSAL SUB-FLOOR SMOOTHING COMPOUND. Excellent adhesion to almost all substrates. Unaffected by moisture, can be used under a damp proof membrane. Simply mixed, pre gauged 2-part pack. Excellent flow characteristics. Feather edge to 12mm in one application. Apply to 30mm incorporating a suitable aggregate. 	ARDIT K15 - SELF-LEVELLING SUB-FLOOR SMOOTHING COMPOUND Rapid hardening - walkable in approximately 2 hours. Rapid drying - receives floorcoverings within 24 hours regardless of thickness. Apply to any thickness in one operation. Can be applied by trowel or pump. Strong - high compressive strength.
	FEATHER FINISH - RAPID DRYING SMOOTHING & PATCHING COMPOUND Receives floorcoverings after as little as 15 minutes. Excellent adhesion without primers. True feather edge achievable. Cost effective - up to 50m² coverage per 11kg bag. Exceptional bond to plywood, concrete, terazzo and ceramic tiles. Add water only.
	ARDURAPID 35 - RAPID HARDENING AND DRYING CEMENT FOR FLOOR SCREEDS Rapid hardening - walkable in 3 hours. Rapid drying - receives floorcoverings after 24 hours regardless of thickness. Test with BRE screed tester after 6 hours. Apply as bonded, unbonded or floating screed. Rapid strength development, 25 N/mm² after 24 hours. Can be pumped for fast application.
	ARDURAPID 45 - RAPID HARDENING AND DRYING INTERNAL REPAIR MORTAR Rapid hardening and drying - receives finishes after 1½ hours. Slump free - ideal for vertical and horizontal repairs. Rapid repair of internal concrete sub-floors and concrete stairs. Fills holes and cracks in renders, screeds, etc.
	ARDION 51 Primer for porous or absorbent sub-floors which improves the adhesion of the Ardit sub-floor smoothing and levelling compounds, also helps prevent air bubbles/pin holes and prolongs the flow life.
	ARDION 82 Solvent-free, non-flammable two part primer for use on all dense impervious surfaces, including hard asphalt and rigid metal sub-floors.
	ARDEX D.P.M. 3kg & 6kg units. Simply mixed, pre gauged 2-part steel drum. For use on sub-floors of up to 95% R.H.

We’ve already described Ball’s popularity in the adhesives section of the site and their floor levelling compounds are also held in high regard by the flooring trade. Ball’s biggest selling brands is and Green Bag, mixed with 114 or 128 latex, dependant upon the state and type of the sub floor. Unlike Ardex, they still produce an Acrylic based screed, the Protein free F55. Their water based Stopgap 300 has proved to be very popular amongst Karndean installers.
